Chekhovich, 20, just completed his third season with Baie-Comeau of the QMJHL (@QMJHL), where he finished second in the league in scoring (105), T-fourth in goals (43), T-third in assists (62) and fifth in points-per-game (1.59).

Shortridge will report to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), on an Amateur try-out  contract (ATO) for the remainder of the season.

After shutting out the Ontario Reign, 5-0, on Friday, the Barracuda wrap up their 10-game season series with the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday at the Rabobank Arena.
