Morning Brew: The Barracuda return to Tech CU Arena on Wednesday to host the San Diego Gulls for Cuda Classroom Day. San Jose is 2-2-1-1 versus the Ducks affiliate and 1-0-1-1 at home.

Sunday Scaries: The Barracuda held a two-goal lead in the third period on Sunday at the Tucson Arena, but failed to close out the Tucson Roadrunners (29-25-3-2), eventually falling 6-5 in a shootout. In the loss, Andrew Poturalski scored twice, setting a new single-season franchise record for goals at 27. He also matched the single-season franchise record for power-play goals in a year at 11. The Barracuda wrapped up the game going four-for-seven on the advantage, just the fifth time ever that they have scored four power-play goals in a game, and the second time this season.

Powering Up: The Barracuda scored multiple power-play goals in each game during their four-game road trip (10/25=40%), including four on Sunday, and have now scored power-play goals in six straight (12/31=38%). The six consecutive games with a power-play goal is the longest streak this season and the four power-play goals in a game matched a franchise record. San Jose is pacing the AHL on the man advantage (24.3%).

Hot Pot: Andrew Poturalski scored twice on Sunday and added an assist, setting a new franchise record for goals in a season at 26. On Saturday, he set a new record for points in a season. The nine-year vet is pacing the AHL in scoring (65), third in assists (38), T-third in power-play goals (11), and T-fourth in goals (27). The New Hampshire alumni has points in 16 of his last 19 (12+17=29).

Luca Lightning: Rookie defenseman Luca Cagnoni received his first NHL recall of his career on Tuesday. The 20-year-old collected three assists on Sunday in Tucson and now leads the AHL in power-play points (31), is second in power-play helpers (22), and T-fourth in power-play goals (9). Among league blueliners, he is second in points (47), and goals (13). The 20-year-old, who has already set a franchise record this season for power-play goals (9) by a defenseman, is just one goal shy of matching the org’s watermark for goals in a season by a rearguard which was set by Tim Heed in 2016-17 and Nick DeSimone in 2018-19.

Dan the Man: Danil Gushchin picked up points in all four games during the Barracuda’s road trip, including five points (1+4=5) in two games this past weekend. The third-year pro has seven points (2+5=7) in his last four outings and points in eight of his last nine (7+6=13). Over his last 16 games, he has 12 goals and eight assists.
