Barracuda Weekly
Nov 1, 2016Barracuda welcome in the Rampage for a pair of games this weekend at SAP Center
Weekly rewind…
The San Jose Barracuda captured three of the possible four points this past weekend against the Bakersfield Condors at SAP Center at San Jose. On Friday, Troy Grosenick earned his first win of the year and his fourth career shutout after stopping all 28 shots he faced. San Jose used four second-period goals to top the Condors 4-0.
On Saturday, San Jose recovered after allowing three first-period tallies and were able to force overtime. After neither team had claimed victory during the 3-on-3 five-minute extra frame, Bakersfield earned a weekend split when Scott Allen was the only player in the shootout to score.
A look ahead…
The San Jose Barracuda welcome in the San Antonio Rampage (Colorado Avalanche) for the first time this season starting Saturday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. at SAP Center. The Barracuda and Rampage will also play on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. In 2015-16, San Jose went 3-1-2-0 against San Antonio and 2-0-1-0 at home. At 3-5-0-0 (6 points, .375) the Rampage currently sit at the bottom of the Pacific Division even though they have played twice the amount of games as the Barracuda. San Jose (2-1-0-1, 5 points, .667) is in third in the Pacific Division.
Broadcaster bites…
After getting held off the scoresheet in the opener on Oct. 15, the line of Nikolay Goldobin, Kevin Labanc, and Rourke Chartier has been dominant. In the last three games, the three forwards have combined for 17 points (6-11-17) and a plus-13 rating. It’s crazy to think that 21-year-old Nikolay Goldobin is the most veteran of the group, but it is clear this line could be one of the best in the league.
