SHARKS RECALL DEFENSEMAN JACOB MIDDLETON
Oct 4, 2019SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) general manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Jacob Middleton from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Middleton, 23, appeared in three contests for the Sharks last season, making his NHL debut against the Tampa Bay Lightning (@TBLightning) on Jan. 5, 2019. He later registered his first career NHL point on Apr. 4, 2019 with an assist against the Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers). Middleton primarily spent the 2018-19 campaign with the Barracuda, recording 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 57 games. He co-led Barracuda skaters in plus/minus (16), and finished fifth among San Jose defensemen in points.
The six-foot-three, 210-pound native of Stratford, Ontario was signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 7, 2017.
In a related move, Dalton Prout has been placed on Injured Reserve.
