SHARKS REASSIGN JOAKIM RYAN TO BARRACUDA

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned of Defenseman Joakim Ryan (@JoakimRyan) to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL).
Ryan, 24, recorded three points (all assists) and a plus-two rating in 24 games played. His first stint in the NHL was highlighted by his performance on November 1 against the Nashville Predators in which he set a franchise record and NHL rookie record for most blocked shots in a single game with nine. Ryan currently ranks fourth on the Sharks in blocked shots (39).
In his only game of the 2017-18 regular season with the Barracuda, Ryan registered a plus-2 rating.
The five-foot-eleven, 185-pound native of Rumson, New Jersey, was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round (198th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
In a related move, Mikkel Boedker has been activated from Injured Reserve.
