Sharks Re-Sign Forward Bryan Lerg
Jul 2, 2015SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed forward Bryan Lerg (@BLerg11) to a one-year contract.
Lerg, 29, recorded 41 points (13-28=41) and 10 penalty minutes in 68 games played with Worcester of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season. Worcester's captain led the team in points (41), T-1st in assists (28) and shots on goal (172). Lerg made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks on April 9, 2015, at Edmonton, registering his first career NHL goal and set a franchise record for most shots (8) in an NHL debut.
In 348 career AHL games with Worcester, Lake Erie, Wilkes-Barre Scranton and Springfield, Lerg has amassed 195 points (89 goals, 106 assists) and 110 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro in 2008, Lerg spent four seasons with Michigan State (2004-2008), helping the Spartans win the 2007 NCAA National Hockey Championship. He also represented the United States at the 2004 U-18 World Junior Championship, helping the US win a silver medal by collecting two goals and six assists in six games at the tournament.
The five-foot-ten. 175-pound native of Livonia, MI was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Edmonton on April 1, 2008.
