SAN JOSE SHARKS ROOKIES DEALT WINNING HAND OVER VEGAS, 5-1

Sep 17, 2023

Henderson, NV – The San Jose Sharks rookie team allowed just one goal in their second game of the 2023 Rookie Faceoff at The Dollar Loan Center, scoring five of their own against the Vegas Golden Knights rookie group.

2023 AHL All-Star forward Thomas Bordeleau picked up his first goal of the night, from a seated position, tipping in a Jake Furlong shot  6:56 into the opening frame.

It wouldn't take long into the second period for Bordeleau to pick up his second of the evening just 3:10 into the middle 20 minutes of play, picking up a sharp-angle goal. 17:55 into the second period, forward Kasper Halttunen picked up his first goal of the weekend and the Sharks rookies would head into the second intermission with a 3-0 lead over the Vegas rookies.

The final 20 minutes would continue to see San Jose goal-scoring success, starting 6:22 into the period as 2022-23 San Jose Sharks prospect of the year Ethan Cardwell would pick up his first of the weekend to put San Jose up 4-0. At the 10:52 mark, Ozzy Wiesblatt would pick up his first of the tournament, giving his team a 5-0 lead. Mason Primeau would get the Golden Knights rookies on the board to end San Jose netminder Magnus Chrona's shutout bid, but it would be too little, too late for Vegas and the Sharks would see their second win of the tournament in as many games.
