BARRACUDA STUN GULLS, WIN 4-3 IN OVERTIME

SAN JOSE, CALIF. - The San Jose Barracuda (34-12-1-4) scored two unanswered goals in the third period before winning it in overtime, 4-3, against the San Diego Gulls (32-14-3-2) on Sunday night at SAP Center.
Rourke Chartier and Danny O'Regan each scored with under three minutes left in the regulation and O'Regan won it in OT.
After Ryan Carpenter had taken a tripping penalty 19 seconds into the first, Corey Tropp (16) collected a loose rebound in the low slot and swiped it around Troy Grosenick's left pad at the 58-second mark. Barclay Goodrow (17) tied the game by tipping a Michael Brodzinski shot past Kevin Boyle at 6:50, but Shea Theodore (3) recaptured the Gulls lead with a top shelf missile on a breakaway at 18:51.
In the second, San Jose held the Gulls at bay until 19:50 when Nic Kerdiles fed a backdoor pass to Sam Carrick (12) who fired the feed into the open net.
San Jose looked bound for their third-straight loss down by two and with their net empty. But Chartier (13) jammed a loose puck just past the goal line at 17:09 to make it 3-2 and O'Regan (17) tied the game at 19:44 with a seeing-eye shot from the left point.
In overtime, San Jose completed the dramatic comeback as Adam Helewka crossed a two-on-one pass to O'Regan (18) who fired it just inside the right post from the left wing at 4:05 of the extra session.
Grosenick (22-8-3) earned the win after making 26 saves on 29 shots, while Boyle (7-3-3) took the hard-luck loss after giving up four goals on 29 shots.
The Barracuda travel to San Diego on Wednesday, March 8 (7:00 PM) to face the Gulls before returning to SAP Center for a pair of games against the Grand Rapids Griffins (6:00 PM) and Gulls (1:15 PM) on Saturday and Sunday.
