Home Sweet Home: The Barracuda officially opened its new home, Tech CU Arena, on Saturday and now will play the second of back-to-back games against the Henderson Silver Knights (Golden Knights) on Sunday afternoon. Sunday marks the second of eight on the season series against Henderson and continues a five-game homestand. A year ago, the Barracuda went 1-7-0-0 against the Knights, getting outscored 43-to-25, with the only win coming in San Jose on Jan. 8, 2022 (6-3, W). All-time, the Barracuda are 4-12-0-1 against the Golden Knights’ top affiliate. Saturday's win against Henderson was the first blank sheet versus the Knights in 17 all-time matchups and snapped a six-game skid against Henderson dating back to last year.

First of Many: The Barracuda have yet to give up a first-period goal this season, outscoring its opponent 6-0 in three games. In addition, the team has jumped out to multi-goal leads in all three of its outings, despite getting outshot in each contest so far.

Fish Fry: The Barracuda are 3-0 for the first time in franchise history after Saturday's 4-0 win. In the victory, the Barracuda got 34 saves from Aaron Dell, his ninth career AHL shutout, and the first multi-goal night from Brandon Coe.

Young Blood: Rookies Tristen Robins, Thomas Bordeleau, and William Eklund all lit the lamp for the first time in the AHL last weekend in Iowa. Robins and Bordeleau each tallied on Saturday and now co-lead the team in goals with two. A year ago, Bordeleau eliminated the Golden Knights from playoff contention with a round-three shootout winner on April 24, 2022, at Vegas. Bordeleau will face his former teammate this weekend at the University of Michigan and fellow 2020 draft class member, Brendan Brisson, a current member of the Silver Knights and former Golden Knights first-rounder.

New Kids on the Block: The Barracuda have 11 new forwards, two new defense, and three new goaltenders on its current roster. Not to mention a new head coach, John McCarthy, and new assistant coaches, Louis Mass and Kyle Hagel. The group includes 12 draftees of the Sharks over the last five years, including first-round picks William Eklund (RD 1 [7] ’21), Ozzy Wiesblatt (RD 1 [31] ’20), and Ryan Merkley (Rd 1 [21] ’18), along with second rounders Thomas Bordeleau (RD 2 [38] ’20), Tristen Robins (RD 2 [56] ’20) and Artemi Kniazev (RD 2 [48] ’19).

Silver Lining: Pavel Dorofeyev, who led the Silver Knights in goals (27) and points (52) last year, is back in the AHL in 2022-23. In addition, the Silver Knights’ top-producing d-man, Daniil Miromanov, is also back in Henderson. The Knights also added Sheldon Rempal to their lineup after finishing sixth in the AHL in goals (33) in 2021-22, skating in 55 games with the Abbotsford Canucks. In addition, the Knights added Byron Froese who captained the Stockton Heat to a Pacific Division crown a year ago.
