Friday Fun: On Friday, the Barracuda begin a five-game homestand with the first of back-to-back against the Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas Golden Knights). The Barracuda are 0-1-2-0 against the Knights this season, despite holding two-goal leads going into the third period in each of the last two games and scoring the first goal in all three matchups. The Barracuda are 9-14-2-2 against the Knights all time and 7-4-1-1 at home. The Barracuda will travel to Henderson on Dec. 22nd and 23rd, their final trip of the season to the Dollar Loan Center.

 

Home Sick: The Barracuda enter Friday’s homestand having dropped its last two at Tech CU Arena and are just 2-5-3 over its last 10 on home ice. Almost every major statistical metric is lower for the team at home, including goals for (3.08 at home/ 3.14 on road), goals-against average (4.25 at home/3.71 on road), power play (13.00% at home/22.6% on road), penalty kill (74.5% at home/81.8% on road) and plus/minus (-14 at home/-4 on road). After Friday, the Barracuda will have played the most home games (13) in the league to this point.

 

Silver Lining: The Silver Knights enter Friday having dropped its last four in a row (0-3-0-1) and are just 1-5-1-2 in its last nine. The Knights began a five-game road trip on Wednesday in Ontario, falling 3-1 to the Reign. Former Panthers first-rounder Grigori Denisenko leads the team in scoring (21), assists (12), points-per-game (.95), and is T-first in goals (9).

 

Michigan Men: Former University of Michigan teammates Thomas Bordeleau and Brendan Brisson will square off for the seventh time in their careers on Friday. Brisson (Round 1, 29th overall) was selected by Vegas nine picks before Bordeleau (Round 2, 38th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft. Brendan’s dad, Pat, is Bordeleau’s agent.

  

Hometown Hero: Vegas native Gage Quinney, who has been with the Golden Knights organization for all six years of its existence, enters Friday leading the Silver Knights in points against the Barracuda (1+4=5) this season and has 24 points (8+16=24) in 21 career games against San Jose. Gage’s dad, Ken, spent five years with the Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League (IHL) from 1993-98.

 

Cuda Killer: In the last meeting against the Barracuda on Oct. 25 at Tech CU Arena, Silver Knights’ captain Byron Froese scored the tying goal at 6:37 of the third period and the game-winner at the 59-second mark of overtime. The 12-year vet now has 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 27 career games against the Barracuda. Froese is in his second year with the Golden Knights organization after serving as the captain of the Stockton Heat from 2019-22. Entering Friday, Froese has no points in his last 10 games and just one goal over his last 13 outings.

 

Familiar Foe: Veteran forward Adam Cracknell, who is now in his 18th season of pro and first with the Silver Knights, is T-second on the team in points (16), goals (8), assists (8), and is T-first in power-play goals (3) and shooting percentage (29.6%). Cracknell is in his fourth stop in the Pacific Division (SD, BAK, TUC, HSK) and third in his last three seasons. In 37 career games against the Barracuda, he has 35 points (13+22=35). Between five professional leagues (NHL, AHL, KHL, ECHL, Denmark), the 38-year-old has skated in 1,084 games, while collecting 282 goals and 343 assists.
