Marching Along: Despite falling 6-2 on Saturday in Bakersfield, the Barracuda finished its three-game road trip with a 2-1 record, and return home on Wednesday morning to kick off a three-game homestand against the Henderson Silver Knights. Wednesday marks the final matchup on the eight-game season series against the Golden Knights’ affiliate. The Barracuda are 5-1-0-1 against the Knights, 3-0 at Tech Cu Arena, and are coming off a 3-1 win in the last meeting on Jan. 27 at the Dollar Loan Center. Prior to this year, the Barracuda 3-12-0-1 versus Henderson all-time.

  

About last time: In the last meeting against the Silver Knights on Jan. 27, Lukas Cormier opened the scoring at 9:41 of the first, but the Barracuda would go on to score the final four goals en-route to a 4-1 win. In the victory, Kyle Criscuolo (PP), Andrew Agozzino, Martin Kaut and C.J. Suess (EN) scored, and Aaron Dell picked up a 27-save win.

 

Cuda Chronicles: The Barracuda enter Wednesday just three points behind the Tucson Roadrunners for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division, and have a game in hand. Additionally, the Barracuda are four points ahead of the Henderson Silver Knights, with two games in hand. After Wednesday, the Barracuda will have seven more home games left on its schedule and 14 in total. Despite being held to just two goals on Saturday, the Barracuda have averaged 3.9 (43 GF) goals for over its last 11 games and have notched 4+ goals in eight of those contests. The Barracuda are 29th in the AHL in goals for (2.81) and 25th in goals against (3.39). Against the Knights the Barracuda have averaged 3.1 (22 GF) goals for and 2.28 (16 GF) goals against.

 

Silver Lining: The Silver Knights have dropped its last three games, including falling in consecutive contests at last-place San Diego this past weekend, but had won six in a row before that point. The Silver Knights are in the midst of a five-game road trip that will close out on Friday in Bakersfield. Henderson is 30th in the AHL in goals for (2.66) and 11th in goals against (2.95) and boast the league’s ninth-best penalty kill (82.6), having gone on the PK just 201 times (28th). During its winning streak the Knights averaged 5.2 (26 GF) goals for but have scored a combined five times in its last three games.
