Marching Along: After picking up a 5-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night at Tech CU Arena, the Barracuda close out its two-game homestand on Sunday with the second of back-to-back games versus the Oilers’ top affiliate. The Barracuda are 4-3 against the Condors this season and 2-1 at home, as Sunday will close out the eight-game season series against Bakersfield. The Barracuda are 6-5 in March after Saturday’s win and 4-2 at home this month.

 

Saturday Sizzle: With nine rookies in the lineup on Saturday, the Barracuda notched five goals, all from first-year players en-route to a 5-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors. Tristen Robins opened the scoring in the first and now has three goals in his last two games, finishing the night with three points (1+2=3), and Nathan Burke, in just his second AHL contest, scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and tacked on an assist. Thomas Bordeleau also potted his ninth power-play goal of the year, and Brandon Coe notched a goal late to seal the win. Aaron Dell made 19 saves in the game, beating Calvin Pickard for the first time this season in three tries.

 

Cuda Chronicles: The Barracuda enter Sunday three points behind the Tucson Roadrunners for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division and five points behind the Condors. SJ has three more home games left on its schedule and nine total. Since Feb. 11 (last 16 games), the Barracuda have scored 63 goals (3.70 per-game). Prior to Feb. 11, SJ had notched 117 goals in its first 47 games (2.48). After scoring all five goals on Saturday, Barracuda rookies have now combined to score 81 of the team’s 180 goals-for (45%).

 

Condors Check: Prior to Saturday, the Condors had won three of four and six of eight. Bakersfield is 26th in the AHL in goals-for (2.97), 19th in goals-against (3.11), 22nd in shots-for (29.74), and 24th in shots-against (31.21). Seth Griffith leads the team in points (55) and assists (38), while Raphael Lavoie is pacing the Condors in goals (22), game-winning goals (7), T-first in power-play goals (6), and second in +/- (+9) and shots (151).
