Marching Along: After blanking the Condors on Friday, 4-0, the Barracuda close its three-game road trip on Saturday in Bakersfield, looking for wins in all three games. The Barracuda are 3-2 versus the Oilers top affiliate this season and 2-1 at the Mechanics Bank Arena. SJ began the year 2-0 against the Condors but had dropped its last two before Friday. After Saturday, the two teams will play each other two more times to close the eight-game season series.

  

Friday Fun: The Barracuda got 23 saves from Aaron Dell and a natural hat-trick from Jeff Viel, blanking the Bakersfield Condors, 4-0, on Friday night at the Mechanics Bank Arena. The shutout win, which was the first in franchise history against the Condors on the road, was the Barracuda’s fifth blank sheet of the year. Artemi Kniazev also scored in the win and Jacob Peterson finished with a career-best three assists.

 

Cuda Chronicles: San Jose enters Saturday three points behind the Tucson Roadrunners and Bakersfield Condors for the final two playoff spots in the Pacific Division, going 6-2-1-1 over its last 10. After Saturday, the Barracuda will have eight more road games left on its schedule and 15 in total. Over its last 10 contests, SJ has scored an average of 4.1 (41 GF) goals for and have notched 4+ goals in eight of the 10.

 

About Bakersfield: Despite Friday’s loss, the Condors are 12-5-0-1 in its last 18 games. Bakersfield, who is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, has 16 games remaining on its schedule and 10 at home. The Condors are 7-1-0-2 in its last 10 at the Mechanics Bank Arena.

 

Real Viel: Barracuda forward Jeff Viel extended his point streak to a career-long eight games on Friday by scoring three times, his first pro hat-trick. During the current streak, Viel has 13 points (7+6=13), including a pair of shorthanded goals.
