Marching Along: After rolling the Ontario Reign on Wednesday 6-2, the Barracuda continue its three-game road trip on Friday with the first of back-to-back games in Bakersfield against the Condors. The Barracuda are 2-2 versus the Oilers top affiliate this season and 1-1 at the Mechanics Bank Arena. SJ began the year 2-0 against the Condors but have dropped the last two meetings. After Friday, the two teams will play each other three more times to close the eight-game season series.

  

Wednesday’s Win: The Barracuda scored three times in the second period on Wednesday en-route to a 6-2 win against the Ontario Reign at the Toyota Arena. In the victory, Danil Gushchin recorded a career-best three assists, and Kyle Criscuolo notched his eighth career multi-goal game. In addition, Will Riedell, Jeff Viel, Luke Johnson and Andrew Agozzino also scored as Aaron Dell made 24 stops.

 

Back in Bako: In the last meeting against the Condors at the Mechanics Bank Arena on Jan. 28, the Barracuda got a pair of goals from Adam Raska just 12 seconds apart to get within a goal in the third period but couldn’t tie the score and would fall 5-4. Luke Johnson and William Eklund also scored for the Barracuda, while the Condors got goals from Seth Griffith, Dino Kambeitz, Greg McKegg, Devin Shore, and Raphael Lavoie. Aaron Dell suffered the loss, while Calvin Pickard picked up the win.

 

Cuda Chronicles: San Jose enters Friday three points behind the Tucson Roadrunners for the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division, and five points behind the Bakersfield Condors for the sixth position. After Friday, the Barracuda will have nine more road games left on its schedule and 16 in total. SJ is 29th in the league in goals for (2.80) and 26th in goals against (3.40), but over its last nine SJ has scored an average of 4.11 (37 GF) goals for and have notched 4+ goals in seven of the nine.

 

About Bakersfield: The Condors enter Friday having won its last two games and six of eight. Bakersfield, who is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, has 17 games remaining on its schedule and 11 left at home. The Condors are 7-1-0-2 in its last 10 at home, and since Jan. 27, Bakersfield has gone 12-4-0-1 in its last 17 games.

   

El Cap: Barracuda captain Andrew Agozzino collected his 500th AHL point on Saturday in the first period when he scored his 20th goal of the year. The veteran forward, who buried his 200th AHL goal earlier this year, is currently riding a nine-game point streak (5+7=12) and three-game goal streak. Agozzino has 20 points (11+9=20) in his last 16 games and leads the Cuda in points (46), goals (21), and assists (25).

 

Real Viel: Barracuda forward Jeff Viel extended his point streak to a career-long seven games by notching a goal in the team’s 6-2 win over the Reign on Wednesday. During the point streak, Viel has 10 points (4+6=10), including a pair of shorthanded goals.
