'CUDA COMPLETE WEEKEND SWEEP WITH 2-1 WIN OVER GULLS
Jan 20, 2018
SAN DIEGO, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (19-16-0-2) completed the weekend sweep by topping the San Diego Gulls (20-17-1-0), 2-1, on Saturday night at Valley View Casino Center.
San Jose's Nick DeSimone (4) dangled his way through traffic in the high-slot before finishing off his own rebound just a minute into the period to give the Barracuda the early advantage. Less than five minutes later, Dennis Rasmussen (2) would tie the game at 4:03. Two different fights broke out in the frame, and San Jose held the only man-advantage of the first but came up empty.
In the second period, after failing to convert on its first three power plays, Julius Bergman(5) one-timed a pass from Danny O'Regan as he entered the offensive zone, beating Kevin Boyle on the far side at 17:24.
Up 2-1 heading into the third, Bibeau made all seven saves he faced, and the Barracuda held on for the 2-1 win.
Bibeau (12-7-0) earned his fourth consecutive win by making 28 saves on 29 shots, while Boyle (10-9-1) took the loss after allowing two goals on 33 shots.
