BYSTEDT SCORES TWICE IN LOSS TO CONDORS
Dec 21, 2024San Jose, Ca. – The San Jose Barracuda (16-9-0-2) fell behind 4-0 on Saturday at Tech CU Arena and failed to dig their way out, losing 4-2 to the Bakersfield Condors (11-10-3-1). In the defeat, rookie Filip Bystedt collected a pair of goals, the second multi-goal game of his career. With the win, Bakersfield has now won four in a row and has points in their last five.
In the first, the Condors had the early pressure, and at 9:28 Cam Dineen (2) received a pass on the left point, drifted uncontested to the middle of the ice, and ripped a shot past Aaron Dell at 9:28. After the Barracuda were called for a minor penalty, the Condors would add to their lead when Seth Griffith seemed a pass to Matt Savoie (7) who snapped in a one-timer at 15:40.
Up by two, the Condors would add to their lead in the second at the 10-minute mark when Matvey Petrov (7) extended his goal streak to five games by whipping in a sharp-angle shot. 41 seconds later, the Condors would go up 4-0 as Ronnie Attard (1) put home his own rebound from in tight. The Barracuda would finally get on the board and stop the bleeding at 12:18 as Ethan Cardwell dropped a pass for Bystedt (7) who lifted a shot over Collin Delia’s blocker.
With under four minutes to go, Bystedt (8) directed in his second of the game to make it 4-2, but despite hitting a pair of posts after that point, the Barracuda failed to tie it.
The Barracuda are back on the ice on Dec. 28 (1 p.m.) in Henderson against the Silver Knights before returning to Tech CU Arena on Jan. 4 for CudaMania presented by GalaxyCon. The wrestling-themed game will feature a special guest appearance by two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. For tickets, go to sjbarracuda.com.
