BARRACUDA UNDONE BY PENALTIES, FALL 6-3 TO ROADRUNNERS

Tucson, AZ – The San Jose Barracuda (7-6-0-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on Saturday at the Tucson Arena, but would give up the next six consecutive goals after going on the penalty kill 10 times, falling 6-3 to the Tucson Roadrunners (8-4-1-0).

 

In the first, on the team’s second power play, William Eklund (3) would bury a shot past John Gilles right after he beat his defender with a spina-roma move at 10:33. Less than a minute later, Scott Reedy (4) tipped in a Thomas Bordeleau one-timer on the man advantage at 11:22. After leaving the penalty box, Andrew Agozzino (3) would get sprung on a breakaway and beat Gillies to give the Barracuda 3-0 lead. The Roadrunners would cut the lead down to 17:34 as Adam Cracknell (4) pounded a one-timer past Aaron Dell on the PP.

 

In the second, Michael Carcone (6) would one-time a Jan Jenik pass in at 12:09 on the power play and then Milos Keleman (4) would ram in the tying goal at 18:49, also on the power play.

 

In the third, Keleman (5) would give Tucson its first lead after Victor Soderstrom won a footrace to a loose puck in the right corner. Nathan Smith (3) would make it 5-3 at 13:53 and then Keleman (6) would complete the hat trick with an empty netter at 18:02.

 

Gillies (3-2-1) picked up the win, making 19 saves and has now won seven in a row against the Barracuda. Dell (3-3-0) suffered the loss, allowing five goals on 29 shots.
