Feb 28, 2024Palm Desert, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (17-27-8-1) fell behind 3-0 on Wednesday night at Acrisure Arena and couldn’t dig their way out, eventually dropping the game 4-1 to the Coachella Valley Firebirds (31-13-5-2).
In the loss, Nathan Todd extended his point streak to six games with an assist and Roman Kinal picked up his first helper of his career.

In the second, the Barracuda would outshoot the Firebirds 14-9, but Coachella Valley would extend its lead to 3-0 with a pair of shorthanded goals. First, Ryan Winterton (15) notched his team-leading third shorty and then Cameron Hughes (15) went top shelf on a breakaway at 9:10.
The Barracuda would finally break through 25 seconds in the third when Scott Sabourin (14) received a pass from Kinal and ripped in a quick shot from the low slot. But it was too late as the Firebirds scored again just over four minutes later as Hughes (16) found the back of the net for the second time in the game. After the loss, the Barracuda have now dropped their last five in a row (0-4-1-0)
