BARRACUDA SIGN FORWARDS HEINONEN AND WARNING TO PTO

SAN JOSE - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has signed Forwards Tyler Heinonen and Sam Warning to professional tryout agreements (PTO) from the Kalamazoo Wings and Quad City Mallards of the ECHL (@ECHL).
Heinonen (HEY-no-nen), 24, spent four seasons at Michigan Tech, along with Sharks draft pick Jacob Jackson from 2014-17, skating in 122 NCAA games, collecting 66 points (38 goals, 28 assists), 64 penalty minutes, and a plus-11 rating. Following the conclusion of his college career last year, the Delano, Minnesota native appeared in five games for the Kalamazoo Wings, recording three points (one goal, two assists), two penalty minutes, and a minus-one rating, In addition, he played in one playoff game for the Wings. So far this season, the 5-foot-11, 181-pound rookie winger has collected 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 30 games, while accumulating 11 penalty minutes, and a plus-10 rating.
Warning, 25, is in his third year with Quad City after a four-year career at the University of Minnesota where he played with Barracuda defenseman Michael Brodzinski from 2013-15. In 146 NCAA games, the Chesterfield, Missouri native appeared 146 games with the Golden Gophers, recording 97 points (40 goals, 57 points), 80 penalty minutes, and a plus-63 rating. Over his pro career, the five-foot-10, 181-pound winger has earned 116 points (56 goals, 60 assists) in 174 games, along with 79 penalty minutes, and a minus-20 rating. Warning has also appeared in nine career Kelly Cup Playoff games, recording five points (four goals, one assists), eight penalty minutes and an even rating.
