Look Back:
The San Jose Barracuda (3-5-0-1, 7pts, .389%) presented by Barracuda Networks chomped zero out of a possible four points last week (0-2-0-0) in two home games.  San Jose dropped a 3-2 decision to the San Diego Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks) on Saturday at the SAP Center and closed out a three game home stand with a 6-2 loss to the Bakersfield Condors (AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers) on Sunday afternoon.

San Jose closed out a three game home stand with a 1-2-0-0 record and are now 1-4-0-1 at the SAP Center this season.  Barclay Goodrow scored in his first game with the Barracuda on Saturday while Nikita Jevpalovs and Jeremy Langlois also found the back of the net last week.  Captain Bryan Lerg returned from the Sharks on Sunday and extended his AHL point streak to three games (3-1-4) with his 4th goal of the season.  Julius Bergman picked up his first professional point (assist) on Sunday while Melker Karlsson was impressive with back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday before he was recalled by the SJ Sharks after the Barracuda game on Sunday.  The Barracuda fired a season high 42 shots on Sunday vs. the Condors as the Barracuda look forward to a season long seven game road trip which begins on Wednesday in Ontario.

The Barracuda had nine different recalls to the SJ Sharks last week (Nov 2-9) and also signed forward Garry Steffes to a PTO from the Allen Americans (ECHL) on Nov 5.

The San Jose Barracuda player of the week nominee is forward Melker Karlsson.  The 25-year-old from Lychsele, Sweden recorded one point (0-1-1 and nine shots in two games with the Barracuda last week.

On Wednesday, the Barracuda head to Ontario, CA for a 7pm date with the Reign (AHL affiliate of the LA Kings). Coverage begins live on AM 1220 KDOW at 7pm.

MILESTONE ALERT:
Head Coach Roy Sommer surpassed Frank Mathers (1256 games coached) for the most games coached in AHL history on March 26, 2014 in the Sharks 5-3 win in Lewiston, ME over the Portland Pirates.  Coach Sommer has coached 1353 AHL games – all with the SJ Sharks AHL affiliates. In total, Coach Sommer has been a head coach in 1,687 games in the AHL and ECHL.  Coach Sommer picked up his 600th career AHL win in a 4-3 victory in Lehigh Valley on Feb 4, 2015 and surpassed Frank Mathers (610 wins) for 2nd all-time in AHL history on March 27 in Springfield with his 611th win!  Roy needs 16 wins to tie Fred “Bun Cook” (636 wins) for the most wins in AHL history!

The San Jose Barracuda (3-4-0-1, 7pts) presented by Barracuda Networks lost 3-2 in regulation to the visiting San Diego Gulls (8-2-0-0, 16pts) in front of 4,053 fans at the SAP Center on Saturday afternoon.  Barclay Goodrow (1-0-1) and Nikita Jevpalovs (1-0-1) scored the Barracuda’s two goals.  Mike Sgarbossa (2-0-2) lead the way offensively for the Gulls scoring the first two goals with Joseph Cramarossa (1-0-1) scoring the game-winner late in the third period.  John Gibson went the distance for the Gulls making 31 saves in his 6th win of the season.  Troy Grosenick played made 25 saves in the loss for the Barracuda.

The San Jose Barracuda (3-5-0-1, 7pts) presented by Barracuda Networks fell 6-2 to the visiting Bakersfield Condors (4-5-0-1, 9pts) in front of 3,009 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon.  Jeremy Langlois (1-0-1) and Bryan Lerg (1-0-1) scored for the Barracuda in the 6-2 loss.  Five different Condors lit the lamp led by Jujhar Khaira striking for a pair of goals.  Goaltender Laurent Brossoit (4-2-1) got his fourth win of the season for Bakersfield saving 40 of 42 shots as the Barracuda dropped to 1-4-0-1 at the SAP Center this season.

*1257 GAMES…..With the 5-3 win in Lewiston, ME vs. the Pirates on March 26, 2014, head coach Roy Sommer surpassed Frank Mathers (1,256 games) for the most games coached in the AHL.

*1,600 GAMES… With the 3-0 loss vs. the Norfolk Admirals on April 12, 2014, head coach Roy Sommer coached in his 1,600th professional game.

*Doubleheaders… the first of 13 Sharks/Barracuda doubleheaders at the SAP Center occurred on Saturday, Nov 7.  The Barracuda fell to the SD Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks) 3-2 at 1:15pm while the Sharks dropped a 1-0 game to the Ducks at 7:30pm. The next doubleheader is Saturday, Nov 28 as the Barracuda host the Texas Stars at 1:15pm while the Sharks host the Flames at 7:30pm.

*Goal drought… the Barracuda had been shutout in 164:04 of play before John McCarthy scored at 2:45 of the first period on Nov 1 vs. Ontario.…the last goal scored was a shorthanded goal by Scott Timmins at 18:40 of the first period vs. the Gulls on Oct 21.

*The Sherriff… Frazer McLaren re-signed in the off-season with the SJ Sharks organization after spending the last 2+ seasons in the Toronto organization. McLaren holds the Worcester Sharks franchise record with 577 penalty minutes and has 12 penalty minutes in six games for the Barracuda.

*J-Mac… John McCarthy led the Worcester Sharks in points (151) and goals (63) and was tied in the franchise lead in games played (277).  McCarthy also served as the Worcester Sharks captain in 2012-13 and was the Worcester Sharks MVP in 2011-12. McCarthy is (1-3-4) in eight games with the Barracuda and  (0-0-0) in one game with the SJ Sharks.
