Barracuda Fall 5-1 in Preseason Opener
Oct 7, 2022Bakersfield, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (0-1-0-0) allowed three goals in the third period on Friday at Mechanics Bank Arena and would fall 5-1 to the Bakersfield Condors (1-0-0-0) in the team’s preseason opener.
Matt Boudens (1) waited just 44 seconds into the game to open up the scoring as he directed in a Michael Kesselring pass on the back left post to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. The Barracuda would answer back at 4:36 as Brandon Coe (1) got behind the defense, drew a penalty, and finished off a partial breakaway with a forehand-to-backhand move. Each team would finish the first with 11 shots and the game would remain 1-1 after 20 minutes.
In the second frame, both teams would swap their starting netminders at 10:59 as Zach Emond replaced Strauss Mann and Ryan Fanti took over for Olivier Rodrigue. The Condors would take its lead back at 14:29 when Filip Engares (1) cleaned up a rebound in tight on Emond.
In the third, Bakersfield would run away with it. First, Ty Felhaber (1) would sneak one through Emond’s five-hole at 11:49 and then Dino Kambeitz (1) cleaned up a loose puck in the crease at 14:42. Kesselring (1) would complete the three-goal third with a shorthanded empty-netter at 16:25.
