BARRACUDA CLAW CONDORS IN PRESEASON FINALE, 5-2
Oct 7, 2023San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose Barracuda (2-0-0-0) scored five times on Saturday night at Tech CU Arena, completing a pre-season sweep of the Bakersfield Condors (0-1-1-0) with a 5-2 win.
The Condors would strike first with Ty Tullio (1) picking up a goal just 54 seconds into the opening minute of action. Keeping up the pace of play, Danil Gushchin (1) would need just 13 seconds on the power play to tie the game at the 3:24 mark. Matthew Wedman (1) would restore the Condors lead at the 8:02 mark but former Bakersfield Condor Justin Bailey (1) would pull the Barracuda even once again just over a minute and a half later at 9:40.
In the second period, Tristen Robins (1) would give the Barracuda their first lead of the night at 6:19 as Ethan Cardwell found him in front of the net and the home team would not look back. Leon Gawanke (1) would then pick up his first of the preseason as he put a point-shot off the post and in at 11:19.
Up 4-2 in the third, the Barracuda would seal the win at 18:56 when Nathan Todd (1) potted an empty netter.
Tyler Parks (BAK) would finish his second game in as many nights with 22 saves on 26 Barracuda shots. In the San Jose net, Eetu Mäkiniemi pick up the win, stopping 35-of-37, including the final 34 straight after allowing a pair of goals on the first three shots he faced. It was Mäkiniemi's first action since February.
The Barracuda would end the night 1/6 on the power play with the Condors finished 0/1 on the man advantage.
