Speech from the Throne
Oct 23, 2017As the Honorary King for the 2017-18 season, Jacob Shockley will check in with Cuda Country throughout the year with a "Speech from the Throne" highlighting some of the exciting news surrounding the Barracuda.
Before I begin, I would like to say "Thank you" to all of the Barracuda fans that voted for me as the honorary King of Cuda Country and I am beyond excited to be the honorary King for the 2017-18 season.
I love hockey. It is a sport I have loved watching since I was little and that passion has continued to grow now that I am going to all the Barracuda games. I have been a Barracuda season ticket holder since the 2016/-17 season and love attending all the home games, they are so much fun!
There are lots of great promotions that I am looking forward to but the two promotions I am looking forward to most would have to be the Burns/Thornton bobblehead giveaway on January 15th and the Vlasic bobblehead giveaway on November 26th. I love getting to watch those guys play for the Sharks and it's even cooler to see how Burns and Vlasic have progressed since their playing days in the AHL. One of the games I am looking forward most is the December 28th home game against the Stockton Heat. I love a good rivalry and the games between the Barracuda and the Heat are always an intense battle. I also can't wait to see how Troy Grosenick does this season after he posted 30 wins last year.
Getting to see a Barracuda banner being raised into the SAP Center rafters was something I have dreamed about since the inaugural season. It was incredible watching the team win the Pacific Division last year and being able to witness a banner unveiling a few weeks ago was the icing on the cake.
I will see you all around the arena but once again, thanks to everyone that voted for me. I am looking forward to another great season!
