Jul 2, 2015SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed forward John McCarthy to a one-year contract.
In 87 career games with San Jose, McCarthy has registered six points (3-3=6) and 22 penalty minutes. The 28-year-old scored his first NHL goal with San Jose on October 23, 2010.
In 302 career AHL games, McCarthy has posted 159 points (68-91=159). He was also a stand-out with San Jose's former AHL affiliate the Worcester Sharks, ranking in the top-five of numerous franchise categories. McCarthy ranked 1st all-time in points (156), 1st in goals (63), and T-1st games played (277).
In addition, McCarthy served as the Worcester Sharks captain during the 2012-13 season, and was named Worcester Sharks MVP in 2012.
The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Boston, MA was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round of the 2006 NHL Draft (202nd overall).
