Playoff Primer: After a 5-1 loss on Friday, the Barracuda close out their eight-game season series with the Abbotsford Canucks Saturday at Tech CU Arena. Entering Saturday, SJ is two behind the Canucks in the Pacific Division. The Barracuda are 2-1 versus Vancouver’s affiliate at home, winning a pair of games in late November, and are 3-3-1 overall.

 

No Fun Friday: The Barracuda fell behind 3-0 in the first period on Friday at Tech CU Arena and could not recover, falling 5-1 to the Abbotsford Canucks. In the loss, Joey Keane scored the Cuda’s only goal, his first since opening night.

 

Powering Up: The Barracuda’s franchise record power-play goal streak was snapped at 10 consecutive games (18/47=38%) on Friday, after the club went 0-2 on the advantage in a 5-1 loss to the Canucks. SJB boasts the league’s top PP unit (25%).

 

Hot Pot: Andrew Poturalski is pacing the league with 73 points and 43 assists. The nine-year has 30 goals and 13 power-play goals for the first time in his career and is pacing the league in points, and T-first in power-play goals (13) and assists, and T-third in goals. The New Hampshire alum has points in 19 of his last 24 games (15+22=37).

  

Dan the Man: Danil Gushchin extended his points streak and goals streak to a career-long nine games on Friday and now has 14 points (6+8=14) during the span. The third-year pro ranks T-second in the league in power-play goals (12) and is up to a career-best 25 goals, which is T-seventh in the league. Over his last 13 games, Gushchin has 11 goals and 11 assists. The 23-year-old was named this week's Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the week after aft collecting seven points (4+3=7) in three games.

  

Beck and Call: After signing an entry-level contact with the Sharks for the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, blueliner Noah Beck inked an ATO for the remainder of this year with the Barracuda on Friday. Beck, 24, tallied a collegiate career best of 33 points (five goals, 28 assists) this season with Arizona State, leading Sun Devils blue-liners in points, goals and assists. He was selected to the All-NCHC Second Team in his lone season in the conference after finishing second among league defensemen in assists. Prior to transferring to ASU, Beck played four seasons with Clarkson University.
