Reign or Shine: On Saturday, the Barracuda close out their two-game roadie in Ontario against the Reign (LA Kings) after a 2-0 loss on Friday. The Barracuda are 0-3 against the Reign this season, getting shutout twice, and getting outscored 9-2. Saturday is the second game of three consecutive against the Kings’ top affiliate.

 

No Fun Friday: The Barracuda were shutout for the third time this season on Friday and the second time this year against the Reign as rookie goaltender Erik Portillo made 25 saves en-route to second career blanksheet. The Reign notched a power play goal in the second period from Akil Thomas and a shorthanded goal from Taylor Ward.

 

Bounce back Barracuda: The Barracuda are 9-2-4-0 when coming off a loss this season, averageing 4.07 goal for in those game.

    

Gush’ Goin: Barracuda forward Danil Gushchin potted a pair of goals on Wednesday, his fifth-career two-goal effort. The sophomore forward now ranks T-fifth in the AHL in scoring (28) and T-eighth in goals (11). On the Cuda, he is first in points, goals, and shots (118), T-first in power-play goals (3), and second in assists. Over his last 11 games he has 13 points (5+8=13).

 

King Leon: Barracuda blueliner Leon Gawanke collected a pair of assists in the team’s win on Wednesday and now ranks third in the AHL in defensive scoring (23), T-third in goals (7) and fifth in shots (82). The German-born defenseman has 18 points (5+13=18) over his last 18 games. A season ago, as a member of the Manitoba Moose, he led all league defenders in power-play goals (7) and was T-first in total goals (20). 

 

Love Shak: Barracuda defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin collected two assists on Wednesday and now has 15 points (3+12=15) over his last 13 outings. The former Devils first-rounder is T-sixth among league blueliners in points (22).
