Tonight’s Matchup: The San Jose Barracuda and Colorado Eagles connect for the third time this season and the second in as many nights in Colorado. After San Jose blanked the Eagles 5-0 on Sunday at SAP Center, the Eagles earned a 4-3 overtime win on Friday night.
Dynamic Duo: Barracuda netminders Antoine Bibeau and Josef Korenar have combined for the AHL’s best goals-against average (1.84) and best save percentage (.932) thus far this season. Bibeau, the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month in October, ranks third in the AHL in goals-against (1.96) average and fourth in save percentage (.933). Korenar, who is coming off the first shutout of his pro career, is second among all freshman in GAA (2.00) and SV% (.926).
Francis on Fire: Acquired from the Ottawa Senators in the Erik Karlsson trade, Francis Perron netted a pair of goals in Sunday’s win and scored again on Friday. Perron is just one goal shy from matching his career total of 10 set over his first 112 games in the AHL within the Sens org. Perron is first on the Barracuda in points (15), goals (9), power-play goals (5) and is tied for first in game-winning goals (2). Perron is third in the AHL in shooting percentage (8/24=33.3%).
Head of the Class: The San Jose Barracuda have allowed a league-low 31 goals this season and are second in the AHL in goal differential (+22).
Quick Start: The Barracuda are 8-0-0-1 (.944) this season when they score the games first goal which ranks first in the AHL.
