Barracuda vs. San Diego Gulls Preview

The San Jose Barracuda and the San Diego Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks) meet for the 2nd of 12 meetings this season, the 2nd of six meetings at the SAP Center. The Barracuda are 0-0-0-1 vs. the Gulls this season and are 0-0-0-1 in 1 career matchup. San Diego defeated the Barracuda 3-2 in the shootout at the SAP Center on Wednesday night in the Gulls 1st road game of the season. San Jose is looking for their first win on home ice this season (0-1-0-1).

The San Jose Barracuda (2-1-0-1, 5pts) presented by Barracuda Networks fell short 3-2 in an exciting shootout loss to the visiting San Diego Gulls (3-0-0-0, 6pts) at the SAP Center on Wednesday evening. Bryan Lerg (1-1-2) and Scott Timmins (1-0-1) scored for the Barracuda while Troy Grosenick made 29 saves in net for San Jose in the shootout loss. Nick Ritchie and Stefan Noesen scored for the Gulls in the shootout while John Gibson made 25 saves in net as the Gulls won their third straight game to open the season. San Jose led 2-0 before Brandon Montour and Harry Zolnierczyk scored for San Diego in the Gulls 1st road game of the season.

*Transactions…. Bryan Lerg and Mirco Mueller are currently with the SJ Sharks in the NHL. Earlier today, the Sharks loaned forward Micheal Haley to the San Jose Barracuda.
*Suspensions…San Jose Barracuda defenseman Karl Stollery has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of an elbowing incident in a game vs. San Diego on Oct. 21. Stollery was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He will miss San Jose’s game tonight (Oct. 23) vs. San Diego.
