BARRACUDA SIGN CAPTAIN JOHN MCCARTHY

SAN JOSE, CALIF. - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), presented by Barracuda Networks (@barracuda), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the team has signed captain John McCarthy to a one-year extension.
 
"We're really excited to have John back for another year," said Barracuda General Manager Joe Will. "Aside from his stats, he has brought so much to this young group, and he's been an extension of our coaching staff on the ice."
 
The 30-year-old McCarthy is in his 8th season in the San Jose Sharks organization. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound winger from Andover, MA has 31 points (18 goals, 13 assists) in 62 games for the Barracuda.
 
In his career, McCarthy has skated in 88 NHL games for the San Jose Sharks (3 goals, 3 assists) and has recorded 227 points (97 goals, 130 assists) in 408 games with Sharks AHL affiliates in Worcester and in San Jose. In addition, John skated in 25 games for the Chicago Wolves (AHL) during the 2014-15 season. Originally drafted by the Sharks in 2006, McCarthy won a national championship with the Boston University Terriers in 2009 and also served as captain with the Worcester Sharks during the 2012-13 season.
