Nov 25, 2015

CHARLOTTE, NC –The San Jose Barracuda (6-7-0-3, 15pts) presented by Barracuda Networks played an excellent road game with a 3-1 win over the host Charlotte Checkers (9-9-0-0, 18pts) in front 5,116 fans at the Bojangles’ Coliseum on Wednesday evening.  The Barracuda return home on Saturday with a 1:15pm start vs. the Texas Stars on Movember Day at the SAP Center to start a five game home stand.

Greger Hanson, Trevor Parkes and Nikolay Goldobin scored for San Jose while goaltender Troy Grosenick made 19 saves in net as the Barracuda finished up their season long seven game road trip with a 3-2-0-2 record.

San Jose dominated the first period and grabbed a 2-0 lead after outshooting the Checkers 12-4 through 20 minutes of play. Greger Hanson (2nd) fired home a rebound after Joakim Ryan’s shot from the point was stopped by goaltender Drew MacIntyre just 48 seconds into the contest.   Trevor Parkes (2nd) gave the Barracuda a 2-0 advantage at 12:32 after Scott Timmins won the puck behind the Checkers net and found Parkes alone in front on the crease.  Each team went 0-1 on the power play in the first period as San Jose took a two goal advantage into the first intermission.

Charlotte returned the favor in the second period by outshooting San Jose 12-2 and scoring the period’s only goal.  Patrick Brown (3rd) converted a turnover inside the Barracuda zone and ripped a shot past the glove of Troy Grosenick at 6:20.  Grosenick made several big saves late in the period while San Jose was shorthanded as the Barracuda took a 2-1 lead into the locker room through 40 minutes.

Nikolay Goldobin (2nd) added an insurance goal with a nice deflection on a Karl Stollery point shot at 8:52 to give the Barracuda a 3-1 lead.  Troy Grosenick made four more saves in the third period to take home his third win of the season.
