BARRACUDA MARCH PAST MARLIES, 4-2

Jan 26, 2025

San Jose, Ca. – The San Jose Barracuda (22-13-2-2) never trailed on Sunday at Tech CU Arena, downing the Toronto Marlies (22-11-2-3), 4-2. With the win, the Barracuda finished the four-game season series with a 2-1-1-0 record.

In the first, the Cuda outshot the Marlies 13-9 and drew three minors but failed to score and the game remained 0-0 through the opening 20 minutes.

San Jose would finally break the ice at 8:40 of the second as Anthony Vincent (6) snapped a shot from between the circles that went off the glove of Artur Akhtyamov and in. Later in the period, the Barracuda would make it 2-0 as Ethan Cardwell’s (5) attempted two-on-on pass bounced off a backchecking Marlie, off Cardwell’s skate, and in at 15:05.

In the final 20, the Marlies would finally get one past Gabe Carriere when Robert Mastrosimone (5) snapped in a shot on the glove side at 2:11. A minute and a half later, at 3:48, the Barracuda would answer as Thomas Bordeleau won a board battle, got it Tristen Robins who then slid it Danil Gushchin (8), and Guschin pounded home the one-timer. Joe Blandisi (8) got the Marlies back within one at 6:53 on a slot-tip, but the Cuda sealed the win at 19:24 on an empty-netter from Collin Graf (7).
