
BARRACUDA FALL 5-1 TO CANUCKS
Mar 30, 2025San Jose, Ca. – The San Jose Barracuda (32-23-5-4) allowed a season-high four goals in the first period on Saturday at Tech CU Arena, falling 5-1 to the Abbotsford Canucks (37-23-2-1).
31 seconds into the first period, on the first shot of the game, Sammy Blais (13) got the Canucks on the board as he beat Gabe Carriere from between the circles. At 5:40, Abbotsford made it 2-0 when Chase Wouters (9) scored on a shorthanded breakaway. At 10:01, the Barracuda gave it away on the side of their net and Nathan Smith (7) put home a loose puck to make it 3-0. The Canucks completed the four-goal first at 13:18 when Jujhar Khaira (6) directed in a Smith pass, ending Carriere’s night.
In the second, the Barracuda went onto their second power play, and just six seconds into it, Pavol Regenda (11) stuffed in the Barracuda’s first goal to make it 4-1 at 1:26. San Jose would draw four additional minors in the second, including a four-minute double minor, but could not inch any close.
In the third, the Barracuda took consecutive minors, and the Canucks made it 5-1 at 7:02 as Smith (8) slid a shot through Aaron Dell’s five-hole from in tight.
