SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has signed goaltender Parker Gahagen (@Parker_Gahagen) to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO). 
 
Over a four-year career at Army, Gahagen, 24, appeared in 110 games for the Black Knights, posting a 40-49-16 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
 
The East Amherst, New York native finished first in Army history in goals-against average, total saves (3,172), second in shutouts (10), and third in goals-against average.
 
In 2016-17, during his senior season, the Second Lieutenant set a career high in wins going 17-13-4 with a 2.00 goals-against average, a .934 save percentage, and five shutouts. Gahagen led Army to the Atlantic Hockey semifinals for the second consecutive year and was a Hobey Baker Award Nominee and Mike Richter Award Semifinalist.
 
Gahagen (six-foot-two, 191-pounds) appeared in the Sharks development and rookie camps this summer but was unable to sign a professional contract do to Army restrictions.
 
Gahagen, an Olympic hopeful, is under the Army's World Class Athlete Program, which grants elite soldier-athletes the opportunity to train for the Olympics while maintaining their military career. Gahagen is the first team-sport athlete to be awarded the status, which allows him to train with the Barracuda under amateur status.
