SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2026) – Andre Gasseau scored the game's lone goal and Ilya Samsonov turned aside all 23 shots he faced as the San Jose Barracuda (6-7-0-0) blanked the Bakersfield Condors (4-6-1-0), 1-0, on Saturday night at Tech CU Arena. The victory helped San Jose earn a split of its two-game weekend series against Bakersfield and marked its third win in four games. The Barracuda outshot the Condors 33-23 in front of 4,207 fans.
The Barracuda controlled much of the opening period, outshooting Bakersfield 14-8, but neither team could break through. San Jose generated several quality scoring chances and struck a pair of posts, but the game remained scoreless through 20 minutes.
After more than 35 minutes of scoreless hockey, Gasseau finally broke the deadlock at 15:24 of the second period, netting his team-leading sixth goal of the season. On a two-on-one rush, Gasseau elected to shoot and beat Condors netminder Nathaniel Day upstairs on the short side. The unassisted tally proved to be the game-winner as San Jose carried a 1-0 advantage into the second intermission. The Barracuda held a 25-14 edge in shots through two periods.
Bakersfield pushed for the equalizer in the third, outshooting San Jose 9-8, but Samsonov stood tall to preserve the one-goal lead. With Day pulled for the extra attacker in the final 1:19, the Condors generated several late chances but failed to find the equalizer.
Samsonov finished with 23 saves to earn the victory, while Day stopped 32 of 33 shots in the loss. Cam Lund led all skaters with seven shots on goal, while Gasseau added five. San Jose finished 0-for-4 on the power play but successfully killed off Bakersfield's lone man advantage.
The shutout was the fifth of Samsonov's AHL career and his first since April 4, 2019, as a member of the Hershey Bears. For the Barracuda, it marked their first shutout since November of last season.
With the victory, the Barracuda improved to 2-1-0-0 against the Condors this season, with all three meetings decided by a single goal.
The Barracuda begin a two-game road trip on Wednesday against the San Diego Gulls before wrapping up the trip on Thursday against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. San Jose returns to Tech CU Arena on Saturday, Nov. 14, for its annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, presented by Kaiser Permanente.
