SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2026) – Despite outshooting the Tucson Roadrunners 36-29, the San Jose Barracuda (1-3-0-0) suffered a 4-1 loss on Saturday night at Tech CU Arena, dropping both games of their weekend series against the Roadrunners (2-2-0-0). Roland McKeown scored San Jose’s lone goal with under two minutes remaining, converting on the team's 10th power-play opportunity of the game.

Tucson opened the scoring at 14:02 of the first period when Vadim Moroz netted his third goal of the season. Ben McCartney slid a pass from the left half-wall to Moroz, who jammed the puck home on his third attempt. The Roadrunners carried a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission after outshooting San Jose 14-10 in the opening 20 minutes.

The Roadrunners extended their lead early in the second period when Caleb Desnoyers scored his second goal of the season on the power play at 3:01, sending a shot into the net from just above the goal line on the left wing. Just over three minutes later, Montana Onyebuchi made it 3-0 at 6:33, firing a shot from the right point into the upper-right corner. Tucson added to its lead at 11:58 when Yegor Borikov scored his first AHL goal on a shorthanded breakaway, giving the Roadrunners a commanding 4-0 advantage. Despite generating 10 shots in the middle frame, the Barracuda were unable to solve Tucson netminder Jaxson Stauber, who kept San Jose off the scoreboard through 40 minutes.

The Barracuda continued to apply pressure in the third period, outshooting Tucson 16-9 and generating several power-play opportunities. San Jose finally broke through at 18:29 when McKeown buried his second goal of the season on the man advantage, with Carson Wetsch and Phillip Sinn collecting the assists. The goal spoiled Stauber's shutout bid, but the Barracuda were unable to cut further into the deficit.

San Jose finished 1-for-10 on the power play, while Tucson went 1-for-4. The Barracuda held a 36-29 advantage in shots, with Eric Pohlkamp leading all skaters with seven shots on goal. Stauber finished with 35 saves to earn the victory, while Matt Davis made 25 saves in the loss. Desnoyers and Borikov each recorded a goal and an assist for Tucson.
