Home for the Holidays: After a stretch of eight of nine away from home, the Barracuda returned to Tech CU Arena on Saturday to begin a three-game homestand and a stretch of seven of 10 at home in January. Sunday is the second game of back-to-back versus the Colorado Eagles. The Barracuda were dealt a 4-2 loss against the Avs affiliate on Saturday and have now lost 13 of 14 against the Eagles dating back to the 2022-23 season. The Barracuda are 6-3-0-1 this season when coming off a regulation loss. Since Dec. 1, San Jose is 6-5-0-1.

Saturday Regrets: The Barracuda jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Saturday night at a sold-out Tech CU Arena but would give up the final four goals to the Eagles falling, 4-2. The Barracuda have now dropped consecutive home games for the first time this year. In the loss, Lucas Vanroboys and Andrew Poturalski scored.  

Sparkling Special Teams: The Barracuda enter Saturday second in the AHL on the power play (22.0%) and penalty kill (87.4%). San Jose is also T-third in the league in shorthanded goals (6).

Carlsson Cooking: Lucas Carlsson scored twice Wednesday, including the overtime winner. The veteran rearguard has four goals in his last four games. Among league defenders, he is T-third in goals and T-second in power-play goals (4). The veteran blueliner has surpassed his power-play totals from a year ago in 36 fewer games.

Calling Collin: The Sharks recalled Collin Graf from the Barracuda on Tuesday. Before the call-up, Graf ranked T-first among AHL rookies in points (26) and first in assists (20). On Friday, he collected his third career NHL helper on a goal from Macklin Celebrini in a Sharks 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Hot Pot: Veteran forward Andrew Poturalksi scored on Saturday and now has 11 points (4+7=11) in his last eight games. Poturalski is T-fourth in the AHL in scoring (32), T-eighth in goals (13), and T-third in power-play goals (6). The ninth-year pro is pacing the Barracuda in points, goals, points-per-game (1.03), second in assists (19), and third in shots (77).

High Card: Ethan Cardwell notched a pair of assists on Wednesday and now has five apples in his last four games and 12 in his last 10 outings. Cardwell is T-sixth in the league in assists (18) and is just two assists shy of matching his assist total from a year ago in 48 fewer games. Cardwell has also skated in six NHL games with the Sharks, scoring his first NHL goal on Nov. 29 against Seattle.

Luca Lightning: Despite being held off the scoresheet in the last five games, rookie defenseman Luca Cagnoni ranks T-fourth among AHL defenders in points (22), T-second in goals (8), T-seventh in helpers (14), T-second in power-play goals (4), second in power-play assists (9), and second in power-play points (13). Among all skaters, he is T-second in PPP and T-third in PPA.
