Reigny Day: On Friday the Barracuda begin a four-game roadie with the first meeting of the season against the Ontario Reign. The Reign are 5-5 in their last 10 games but boast a 7-1-1-0 on home ice, the second-best home record in the Pacific Division, and fourth-best in the AHL. Entering Friday, Ontario is second in the Pacific Division and fourth in the league with a record of 13-5-0-1. 

About Last Time: The Barracuda exploded for a franchise-high 10 goals against the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday en-route to a 10-5 win. In the victory, the Barracuda scored twice shorthanded and twice on the power-play and five different skaters notched their first goal of the year, including Krystof Hrabik who netted the first of his AHL career.

Powering Up: The Barracuda went 2-for-3 on the power-play on Wednesday and now rank second in the league on the man-advantage (23%). On the flip side, the Barracuda allowed three power-play goals on Wednesday and have now given up a man-advantage goal in seven straight games and 16 of the 20 games they’ve played this year. The Barracuda rank last in the AHL on the PK (66.2%). The Reign sit at third in the AHL on the power-play (22.9%) and 30th on the PK (75.3%).

Reedy Rolling:  Scott Reedy collected two assists on Wednesday pushing his team-high point totals to 19 (10+9=19). The Prior Lake, Minn. native is T-first among all AHL skaters in power-play goals (6), second in shooting percentage (10/27=37.5%), and tied for third in goals (10). Prior to turning pro, Reedy led the Minnesota Golden Gophers in goals the last two seasons. Reedy has four points (1+3=4) in the last four games. 

Sommer Time: Head Coach Roy Sommer returns for his AHL-best 24th season in 2021-22 and his 26th within the Sharks organization. The Oakland, Calif. native has been behind the bench for 1,693 games, going 796-690-48-160 (W-L-T-OTL/SOL) over that span. During the 2015-16 season, the Barracuda’s first in San Jose, Sommer surpassed Fred “Bun” Cook (636 wins) for the most wins in AHL history in a 4-2 win over the Ontario Reign on Feb. 10, 2016.

Blichfeld Boiling: Joachim Blichfeld recorded a goal and assist against the Eagles on Wednesday, marking his sixth multi-point game this season. Blichfeld ranks second on the team in power-play goals (4) and T-third overall in the league in that department. The third-year pro has notched four points (1+3=4) in the last two games played. 

Fearless Frk: Reign forward Martin Frk ranks fifth in the league in scoring with 24 points (11+13=24) in 19 games played. His 11 goals are T-second in the AHL and his four power-play goals sit at fourth. A Calder Cup Champion in 2017 with the Grand Rapids Griffin, Frk is in his third season with the Reign.

Tantalizing Tynan: The AHL’s MVP in 2020, T.J. Tynan is T-fifth in the AHL in assists and is currently second on the Reign in scoring (3+13=16). Tynan is in his ninth season in the AHL and his first as a member of the Reign. Tynan enters Friday with assists in four-straight (5) and nine of his last 10 (11).
