Texas Tilt: On Friday, the Barracuda and Rampage battle for the second time this season and the first time in San Antonio. San Jose fell 3-2 to San Antonio on October 14 at SAP Center in the lone matchup this season. The Barracuda went 4-1-0-1 against he Rampage last year, and are 7-3-2-1 all-time. San Jose is 3-1-1-1 at AT&T Center in six all-time matchups in the Alamo City.

Sizzling San Antonio: The Rampage have stormed out of the gates to begin the season, winning their last four straight and starting the season with a 5-1 record, which is T-2nd in the AHL. The Rampage have a plus-eight goal differential which ranks near the top of the league, and also holds the AHL’s top penalty kill at 93.1% (27-for-29).

Helewka’s Hot Start: Through the first six games, sophomore forward Adam Helewka is first on the Barracuda in assists 6), points (7), and plus/minus (+6). In 2016-17, his rookie season, Helewka totaled 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 58 games with the ‘Cuda, and scored three times in 12 playoff games. In 2014-15, as a member of the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs, the Burnaby, British Columbia native was a Second-League All-Star after potting 44 goals and adding 43 assists. The Sharks drafted the 22-year-old in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Stone Wall: This offseason, coming off a career year in the AHL, Troy Grosenick signed a two-year extension with the San Jose Sharks organization. So far this season, Grosenick is 2-2 with a 3.83 goals-against average and a .860 save percentage. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native went 30-10-5 with a 2.05 goals-against average, and a .926 save percentage earning the Baz Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s Best Goaltender a year ago. Against the Rampage last year, Grosenick went 2-1 with a 2.69 goals-against average, and a .918 save percentage.

Dazzling Danny: The Red Garrett Memorial Award winner last year as the AHL’s Rookie of the Year is first on the Barracuda in goals (4)  and T-second in points (6). O’Regan who played four years at Boston University collected 58 points (23 goals, 35 assists) a season ago, and also, appeared in three games for the Sharks where he scored his first NHL goal on April 8, 2016, against Calgary (David Rittich).

Sommer-Time: Returning for an AHL-record 20th season behind the bench for the San Jose Sharks top affiliate, Roy Sommer continues his historic career. In 2015-16, Sommer surpassed Fred ‘Bun’ Cook on the top the AHL’s all-time winning list and collected his first A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as AHL Coach of the Year in 2016-17. Sommer is 694-609-48-72-65 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL) in his career.
