Condors Clash: The San Jose Barracuda take on the Bakersfield Condors for the second game of a home and road after a 4-3 loss to the Condors on Saturday night in Bakersfield. Lifetime, San Jose is 30-26-4-5 against Bakersfield and have gone 1-3 in four games so far this season. The Barracuda are 1-0 in the only head-to-head matchup at the SAP Center against Bakersfield on Nov. 17 (4-3 W). The Condors enter Sunday riding an 11-game point streak (8-0-2-1) and six game winning streak. Bakersfield sits at fifth in the Pacific Division in points (34) and ninth in the Western Conference.

Last Time Out: After a scoreless first period, the Barracuda potted a pair of goals in the second to take a 2-0 lead but the Condors would go on to score four straight to pick up a 4-3 win. John Leonard netted a pair of goals for his first multi-goal game of his career and Joachim Blichfeld netted his 13th tally of the year and has goals in consecutive games.

Bakersfield Bombers: Forward Seth Griffith, who was called up to the Oilers on Thursday, continues to stack up the points, extending his point streak to seven games (3+12=15) with a five-assist outing on Wednesday in the Condors 6-3 win over the Roadrunners. Griffith now ranks t-ninth in the league in points (33) in 24 games played. Cooper Marody, who did not play on Wednesday or Saturday for the Condors, is also riding a seven-game point streak (6+5=11) after collecting an assist in Bakersfield’s 5-1 win over the Barracuda last Saturday. And veteran forward Adam Cracknell who snapped a 12-game goalless drought against the Barracuda last Saturday, notched four points on Wednesday (3+1=4). Cracknell scored on Saturday and now has five goals over his last three games.

800 for Sommer: On Jan. 8, 2022, head coach Roy Sommer picked up AHL victory #800 with a 6-3 win over the Henderson Silver Knights. The Oakland, Calif., native has been behind the bench for 1,703 games in the AHL, going 801-696-48-160 (W-L-T-OTL/SOL) over that span. During the 2015-16 season, the Barracuda’s first in San Jose, Sommer surpassed Fred “Bun” Cook (636 wins) for the most wins in AHL history, notching a 4-2 victory on Feb. 10, 2016, over Ontario. Sommer collected his 700th win on Dec. 3, 2017, at Bakersfield (2-1 W).

Reedy Rolling: After being recalled to the Barracuda, rookie forward Scott Reedy had notched goals in three consecutive games. The Minnesota alumnus ranks t-fifth in the AHL in goals (16), first in power-play goals (9), and first in shooting percentage (34.0%). In addition, Reedy has skated in his first five games in the NHL this season with the Sharks. Reedy has three points against the Bakersfield Condors (2+1=3) which all came on their matchup on Nov. 17 which is Reedy’s career-high in points for a game.  

Key is Three: The Barracuda are 11-5-1 when they score three or more goals this year and are 0-14 when they net two or fewer. The Condors are 11-2-1 when scoring three or more goals and are 3-6-2-3 when they score two or fewer. The Barracuda are 7-4-1 when winning the special teams battle, 3-12 when they lose it and 3-3 when they tie. Bakersfield is 5-1-1 when they win the special teams battle, 1-1-2 when they lose it and 7-6-3 when they tie the special teams matchup.
