SHARKS REASSIGN THREE TO BARRACUDA

SHARKS REASSIGN DEFENSEMAN HEED AND FORWARDS MASHINTER AND O'REGAN

SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned Defenseman Tim Heed and Forwards Brandon Mashinter (@BMash23) and Danny O'Regan (@DannyORegan15) to the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL). 

The 27-year-old Heed has recorded three goals, eight assists and 50 shots on goal in 27 NHL games with the Sharks this season. He has also played in one game with the Barracuda, posting a +1 rating and four penalty minutes. 

In 2016-17 he was named to the AHL's Second All-Star Team after ranking 3rd amongst all AHL blueliners in assists. 

The six-foot, 185-pound native of Goteborg, Sweden, was originally drafted in the fifth round (132nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. He was signed as a free agent by San Jose on May 24, 2016. 

Mashinter, 29, has recorded 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and 19 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Barracuda this season. In 512 career AHL games with Worcester, Connecticut, Rockford, Hartford and San Jose, the forward has compiled 249 points (122 goals, 127 assists) and 627 penalty minutes. 

He made his National Hockey League debut on Dec. 29, 2010 with the San Jose Sharks, and has played in 64 career NHL games with the Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, scoring four goals and an assist with 50 penalty minutes. 

The six-foot-four, 225-pound forward is a native of Bradford, Ontario and is in his second stint with the organization, having originally signed with the club as a free agent on March 3, 2009.

O'Regan, 23, has posted 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 28 games with the Barracuda this season. He ranks third on the team in points and assists, tied for third in goals and fourth in shots on goal (80) despite splitting time with the Barracuda and Sharks. In 17 NHL games with San Jose, the forward has recorded four assists. 

The second-year pivot has registered 80 points (30 goals, 50 assists) in 91 career AHL games with the Barracuda, and has added one goal and four assists in 20 career NHL games with the Sharks. He was named the 2017 AHL Rookie of the Year after leading all AHL first-year players in points, and was named to the AHL All Rookie Team. 

The five-foot-ten, 180-pound native of Berlin, Germany, was originally selected by San Jose in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
