
PK WOES DOOM BARRACUDA IN COLORADO
Feb 12, 2025Loveland, CO - The San Jose Barracuda (24-16-2-3) gave up three power-play goals for the first time this season on Wednesday at the Blue Arena, and could not overcome it, falling, 5-2, to the Colorado Eagles (26-12-4-2).
In the first, the Barracuda were called for a penalty in the opening five minutes, and on the ensuing power play the Eagles would complete a tick-tack-toe passing sequence finished off by Jere Innala (8) at 6:08 to go up 1-0. Later in the frame, Thomas Bordeleau was given a five-minute major penalty for cross-checking, and game misconduct, and while on the man advantage, the Eagles would make it 2-0 on a Jacob MacDonald (21) goal.
Down by a pair in the second, Colin White (7) rushed up the ice from his blueline and beat Trent Miner with a center drive at 6:47 to make it 2-1. Exactly three minutes later, Innala (9) got a drop pass from Mark Senden in the high slot and snapped the feed past Yaroslav Askarov blocker-side. At 10:34, Colorado would take consecutive penalties and during the five-on-three power play, Filip Bystedt (9) one-timed in a Luca Cagnoni feed from the left dot to make it a one-goal game again. After the Barracuda were called for their third penalty later in the frame, the Eagles would make it three-for-three on the power play as Innala (10) blasted in the hat trick at 18:29.
The Eagles would put the game away at 10:52 of the third after Oskar Olausson (9) went upstairs following a failed defensive zone clear.
The Barracuda are back on the ice on Saturday in Bakersfield (7 p.m.) and Sunday and San Diego (5 p.m.) before returning to Tech CU Arena on Wednesday, February 19 when they host the Ontario Reign (7 p.m.)
