Air and Sea: After an 8-6 win on Saturday in Bakersfield, the Barracuda close out their eight-game season series with the Condors on Sunday at Tech CU Arena. SJB is 3-3-1-0 against Edmonton’s affiliate and 1-2 at home. Entering Sunday, the Condors are two points outside of a playoff spot, with a game in hand on Tucson, and nine points behind the Barracuda.

Sensational Saturday: The Barracuda fell behind 3-0 in the first period on Saturday at the Dignity Health Arena in Bakersfield but stormed back with a season-high eight goals, upending the Condors, 8-6. In the win, Andrew Poturalski scored a natural hat trick in the third period, reaching 30 goals for the first time in his career. Poturalski (3+1=4) and Danil Gushchin (2+2=4) each collected four points, and eight total Cuda skaters notched multiple points. The 14 combined goals were the most in a road game in franchise history.

Powering Up: The Barracuda made it multiple power-play goals in five consecutive road games (12/29=41%) on Saturday as they went two-for-four on the advantage. The Cuda have now scored power-play goals in eight straight games (15/38=39%). This eight-game streak is the longest of the season and is just one game shy of the franchise record. San Jose leads the AHL in overall power-play percentage (24.9%). Against the Condors, the Barracuda are 6-for-23 (26%) on the advantage and have power-play goals in their last three meetings (4/9=44.4%).

Hot Pot: Andrew Poturalski scored a natural hat trick in the third period on Saturday, finishing the game with four points, and is now up to 30 goals and 13 power-play goals for the first time in his career. The nine-year veteran leads the AHL in scoring (69), T-first in power-play goals (13), third in goals (30), and T-third in assists (39). The New Hampshire alum has points in 17 of his last 21 games (15+18=33). Against Bakersfield, he has 10 points (6+4=10) in seven games this season. Poturalski has reset the Barracuda’s single-season franchise record book, setting new watermarks in points, goals, and power-play goals.

Luca Lightning: Rookie defenseman Luca Cagnoni made his NHL debut on Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes, logging a game-high 23:15 of ice time. On Saturday, he picked up his first NHL assist. Before his recall, the 20-year-old led the AHL in power-play points (31), ranked second in power-play assists (22), and was tied for fourth in power-play goals (9). Among league defensemen, he ranks second in both points (47) and goals (13). The Burnaby, B.C. native has already set a franchise record for power-play goals (9) by a defenseman and is just one goal shy of matching the organization's single-season record for goals by a blueliner, set by Tim Heed (2016-17) and Nick DeSimone (2018-19).

Dan the Man: Danil Gushchin extended his points streak to six games on Saturday with four points, bringing his total to 11 points (5+6=11) over that span. The third-year pro is up to 24 goals, a personal best for a season, netting a pair of goals just 26 seconds apart the Barracuda’s 8-6 win over the Condors. Over his last 11 games, Gushchin has 10 goals and nine assists.

Carriere Clog: Since Yaroslav Askarov’s injury on Feb. 19, Gabe Carriere has started eight of the Barracuda’s last 11 games, going 4-2-2 over that stretch with a 2.38 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and two shutouts. The Sharks signed the 24-year-old to an NHL contract for the remainder of the season on Mar. 7. He is in his first year out of the University of Vermont.

Cap is Back: The Sharks recalled defenseman Lucas Carlsson for the first time this season on Friday, and in a corresponding move, assigned Barracuda captain Jimmy Schuldt to the AHL. Schuldt, who had just one NHL game under his belt prior to this season, has appeared in five of the Sharks' last six outings. Carlsson, who signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Sharks this summer, had skated in 60 career NHL games with Chicago and Florida. On Saturday, in his first NHL action since Nov. 1, 2022, he scored and added an assist in the Sharks 3-1 win over the Bruins.
