SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the club has assigned  forward Alex Schoenborn (@aschoenborn22) to the Allen Americans (@AllenAmericans), its East Coast Hockey League (@ECHL) affiliate. 

In 29 games played with the Barracuda in 2016-17, Schoenborn collected four points (one goal, three assists), 25 penalty minutes and a minus-six rating. The Minot, North Dakota native also appeared in six games for the Americans where he tallied a pair of goals, seven penalty minutes and a plus-three rating. 

During his junior career, Schoenborn appeared in 208 games with the Portland Winterhawks (WHL) totaling 128 points (61 goals, 67 assists), 289 penalty minutes and a plus-six rating.

The six-foot-one, 204-pound right-winger was originally drafted by the Sharks in the third round (#72 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
