SPEECH FROM THE THRONE
Feb 27, 2018As the Honorary King for the 2017-18 season, Jacob Shockley has been checking in with Cuda Country throughout the year with a "Speech from the Throne" highlighting some of the exciting news surrounding the Barracuda.
What’s up Cuda Country?! Jacob Shockley here with another speech from the throne.
It’s been awesome being the Cuda King for the 17-18 season. I’ve enjoyed all the recognition that I have received from Barracuda fans, staff, players and Frenzy who is my #1 fan! Being the king has been an unforgettable experience that I’ll always remember and I am looking forward to the rest of the season.
One of my favorite games so far this season has to be when Marcus Sorensen scored a hat trick during a 6-1 win over the Texas Stars on November 5th. Another game I really liked was the 6-5 OT win over the Stockton Heat on December 28th. I love high scoring games and while that game definitely that got me nervous, I was glad we were able to get a win in that Pacific Division rivalry.
I have really enjoyed watching a number of players this season but my favorite so far has been rookie Rudolfs Balcers. He reminds me a lot of the way Danny O’Regan played during his rookie season with the amount of goals and assists that he has registered so early in his career.
There are a lot of new guys, along with Rudolfs, that I have enjoyed watching this season. One of my favorites would have to be one of our newly signed players, Emerson Clark. He has been a big help for the team all over the ice. He has had some big hits and some fights but more importantly, he is scoring some goals.
Looking ahead, I’m really looking forward to our rematch with the Grand Rapids Griffins on March 30th after they beat us 7-3 at home in October. I’m also looking forward to seeing the Cleveland Monsters when they play in San Jose for the first time on March 9th & 10th.
Aside from the schedule, there are a few promotions that I’m excited too. The two that really stand out are Barracuda Blackout with the jersey giveaway on March 10th and then '90s Nickelodeon Night featuring Legends of the Hidden Temple on March 24th. I grew up a as a big fan of the show so I am excited to see it brought to life at a hockey game.
It has been an honor to be able to represent the team so far this season and can’t wait to see how it finishes!
