SHARKS ROOKIE FACEOFF DAY ONE PREVIEW
Sep 15, 2023The 2023 Rookie Faceoff kicks off today in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV.
An annual tournament, the Rookie Faceoff consists of six NHL clubs (San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche) sending their top prospects to compete.
Each team plays three games, for a total of nine over the weekend, with the San Jose roster's schedule as follows:
Friday, September 15 vs. Los Angeles at 1 p.m. PT, City National Arena
Saturday, September 16 vs. Vegas at 7 p.m. PT, The Dollar Loan Center
Monday, September 18 vs. Arizona at 10 a.m. PT, City National Arena
Representing the San Jose Sharks at the tournament are 13 players who have appeared in a Barracuda game.

The Sharks Rookie Faceoff roster also features three players who were selected in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

The group is slated to open the tournament with the first game in Vegas, today, with a scheduled puck 1 p.m. puck drop at City National Arena as San Jose faces the Los Angeles Kings rookies.
Per Barracuda head coach John McCarthy, Georgi Romanov will be the starting goaltender for San Jose and is expected to see the whole game.
The Los Angeles group consists of five faces that appeared for the Ontario Reign last season. The Kings also invited forward Nathan Burke to their rookie camp and rookie faceoff roster. Burke appeared in 10 games for the Barracuda while on an ATO to finish last season, picking up three goals and two assists.
