Long-time play-by-play announcer Dan Rusanowsky (@Dan Rusanowsky) returns for his 30th season behind the microphone. He will be joined by color analysts and Sharks alumni Scott Hannan and Mark Smith.
In addition to live game broadcasts, the Sharks Audio Network plans to offer a wide variety of Sharks and Barracuda programs, including exclusive programming with Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson, Sharks Head Coach Bob Boughner, in-depth player profiles, game highlights and replays, catch-ups with Sharks alumni, classic Sharks games, as well as an opportunity for fans to interact with Sharks and Barracuda hosts and personalities.
Sharks personalities Rusanowsky, Randy Hahn (@sharkvoice) and Bret Hedican (@BretHedican) will all have a presence on the Sharks Audio Network. In addition, Ted Ramey (@TedRameyMedia), who has served as the host of “Morning Tide” for the last two seasons, will also return as a major contributor to Sharks Audio Network programming.
Sharks Audio Network broadcasting will commence on Jan. 12 at 8 a.m. with the 2020-21 San Jose Sharks Season Preview show presented by SAP, and hosted by Rusanowsky, Hahn and Hedican. The 60-minute program will break down the Sharks 2021 training camp and take a look at the unique NHL season that lies ahead. From launch day through Jan. 13, the 2020-21 San Jose Sharks Season Preview show presented by SAP will air, surrounded by six of the most memorable classic game broadcasts in Sharks history: Game 1 for the Sharks franchise
(10/04/1991 at Vancouver); 1994 Game 7 upset of the Detroit Red Wings (April 30, 1994); 2011 four-goal comeback playoff game against the Los Angeles Kings (April 9, 2011); the Sharks advance to their first Stanley Cup Final (May 25, 2016 vs. St. Louis Blues); Game Three overtime win in 2016 Stanley Cup Final (June 4, 2016 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins); 2019 Game 7 comeback against the Vegas Golden Knights (April 23, 2019).
On Thurs., Jan. 14 beginning at 7:00 a.m., the Sharks Audio Network will unveil a complete slate of new and unique programming throughout the day, leading into the Sharks season opening game against the Arizona Coyotes at 6 p.m. PDT.
“One of the most common requests we receive from our fans is ‘We want more Sharks content and news coverage,’” said Sharks Vice President of Communications Scott Emmert. “The launch of the Sharks Audio Network provides a near-limitless reach of our audio game broadcasts while dramatically increasing the quality and consistency of Sharks-related, unique programming.”
In addition, San Jose Barracuda games with Nick Nollenberger (@NickNollen) on the play-by-play call, will also air on the Sharks Audio Network providing the opportunity for all Sharks fans to keep an “ear” on the “Future Sharks” as they hone their skills in the American Hockey League. In the event that Sharks and Barracuda games have overlapping broadcast times, the Barracuda broadcast will shift to the San Jose Barracuda platform, also contained within the Sharks+SAP Center App. Weekly Sharks Audio Network programming will also include Barracuda-focused content, programs and updates once the American Hockey League is underway.
Additional programs will be announced in the coming weeks.
