Sharks Sign Defenseman Patrick McNally
Jul 2, 2015SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed defenseman Patrick McNally to a two-year contract.
"Patrick is a player we have had our eye on for some time now," said Wilson. "He has been a very productive collegiate defenseman and Head Coach Ted Donato and the Harvard staff have done a tremendous job preparing him to take the next step. We're excited for him to continue his development with our organization."
McNally, 23, recorded 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) and a plus-16 in 21 games with Harvard (ECAC) last season. The blueliner led all Harvard defensemen in points, goals, assists and game-winning goals (2), and ranked 2nd amongst team defenders in plus/minus and 3rd in shots on goal (53). He led all ECAC defensemen in goals (tied), T-3rd in points and plus/minus and T-4th in assists. McNally helped the Crimson win the ECAC Championship, and was named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team, an ECAC Second Team All-Star, as well as to the NCAA All-Ivy League Second Team.
In 82 collegiate games with Harvard (from 2011-15), McNally tallied 60 points (14 goals, 46 assists) and a plus-7 rating. In his freshman season (2011-12) he was named to the ECAC Hockey All-League third team and All-Rookie squad and was named an ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year finalist. In addition, he received the George Percy Award as Harvard's top rookie and was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month for December 2011.
The six-foot-two. 190-pound native of Glen Head, NY, was originally drafted by Vancouver in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft. He was acquired by San Jose from Vancouver in a draft-day trade on June 27, 2015.
