SAN JOSE BARRACUDA ANNOUNCE 2023-24 HOME OPENER
Jun 13, 2023San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), top American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), announced today it will open the 2023-24 season on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, 122 days from today, at Tech CU Arena (@TechCUArena). Promotional details and an opponent will be released at a later date.
The Barracuda are 4-4-1 all-time in season openers and 1-1 at home. Oct. 13 will mark the first time the Barracuda will begin the year at Tech CU Arena. A year ago, San Jose played its first two games on the road at the Iowa Wild.
The Barracuda are set to premiere four more videos on its social platforms throughout the off-season, working with various Bay Area sports teams and personalities to promote a "Freaky Friday" the 13th Opening Night.
All-Star Classic
The Barracuda are set to host the 2023 AHL All-Star Challenge and Skills Competition at Tech CU Arena from Feb. 4-5, 2024. For more info about the event and tickets, click here.

About the Barracuda
In 2023-24, the Barracuda will once again compete in the AHL’s Pacific Division which boasts a league-high 10 teams including the Abbotsford Canucks (Vancouver Canucks), Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton Oilers), Calgary Wranglers (Calgary Flames), Coachella Valley Firebirds (Seattle Kraken), Colorado Eagles (Colorado Avalanche), Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas Golden Knights), Ontario Reign (LA Kings), San Diego Gulls (Anaheim Ducks) and Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona Coyotes). A season ago, several of the Sharks’ top prospects played most of the season with the Barracuda including Thomas Bordeleau, William Eklund, Danil Gushchin, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Tristen Robins and Ozzy Wiesblatt.
