With the 86th pick of the draft, the Sharks select goaltender Mike Robinson from Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts.

The Sharks have a tradition of drafting and developing strong NHL goaltenders in later rounds, including Alex Stalock (2005 4th round), Thomas Greiss (2004 3rd round), Nolan Schaefer (2000 5th round), Miikka Kiprusoff (1995, 5th round), and Evgeni Nabokov (1994, 9th round).

1. During the 2014-15 season, Robinson posted a 3.91 GAA and a .902 SV% with Lawrence Academy and a 2.94 GAA and .937 SV% with the Boston Jr. Rangers.

2. Mike Robinson was born in Bedford, New Hampshire before going to Massachusetts to play high school hockey. However, he plans to return to his New Hampshire roots, having committed to the University of New Hampshire.

3. Robinson attended the prestigious Lawrence Academy, which has produced other NHL players such as David Jensen and Steve Heinze, both of which also represented their country in the Olympics. 

4. Robinson lists his size and athleticism as his strengths. Standing at 6’3”, he follows the trend of larger goaltenders in the NHL.

5. Carey Price was a goaltender that Robinson looked up to while he was growing up. An excellent role model, Price recently won the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player, the Vezina Trophy as the league’s best goalie, the Ted Lindsey Award for the most outstanding player, and the William M. Jennings Trophy as the goalie for the team that allowed the fewest goals in the regular season.
