NICK NOLLENBERGER NAMED BARRACUDA PERSON OF THE YEAR
May 12, 2022San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda organization has annouced that Nick Nollenberger has receive the IOA/American Specialty Barracuda Person of the Year award for 2021-22.
In his official role with the team, Nick serves the Barracuda as the Media Relations and Broadcasting Manager. In this highly visible position, Nick is both the voice and face of the team, calling games throughout the season on AHLTV and at sjbarracuda.com/listen. Through weekly podcasts, online interviews with players, coaches, and front office staff, and in-depth stories about all facets of the club, Nick continues to grow the AHL and Barracuda brands, keeping fans and media throughout the Bay Area up to date with the latest news and information about the team and providing unique insights and a behind the scenes look at life in the AHL.
Additionally, Nick is the primary conduit between the Barracuda’s hockey operations department and the business side of the organization. In this capacity, Nick ensures that communication between both sides of the organization is constant and clear and that all parties are working in tandem to achieve success in all areas and at all levels of the organization.
In his sixth season with the Barracuda, Nick has also taken it upon himself to make a positive impact within our community. Nick is a regular participant in many of the organization’s community programs and initiatives, sharing his time by engaging with the underserved in our community. Additionally, Nick uses his reach over radio and TV to share stories of diversity and inclusion. Before the Barracuda’s annual Hockey is For Everyone game, Nick used his platform on the air to interview AHL Linesperson Kirsten Welsh and AHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Hayley Moore.

Prior to joining the Barracuda, Nollenberger was the Director of Broadcast and Media Relations for the Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Prior to that, the 30-year-old served as the Assistant Director of Broadcast and Media Relations for one season with the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class ‘A’ affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
The Santa Cruz, California native is a graduate of the University of Arizona (2014) where he earned his degree in Broadcast Journalism. Nick played youth hockey as a member of the San Jose Jr. Sharks program.
